Union Budget 2007-08 to be tabled in the Par today

Finance Minister P Chidambaram will present the Union Budget 2007-08 in the Parliament today, growth rate of agriculture still remains an area of concern.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex plunged by over 100 points, reacting to the Economic Survey that raised concerns about spike in inflation.
The Sensex dropped by 116 points at 13,538.67 at 1210 hrs after the Survey, tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, noted that inflation was a genuine concern.

Govt to release Economic Survey for 2007-08

The Economic Survey for 2007-08 would be released by the Government today, having predicted an 8.1% growth rate for India last year.
The growth rate projected last year was close to a level witnessed by East Asian countries before the take-off phase. It had however cautioned that growth needed to come from better reforms.

The Akali Dal-BJP combine appears set to sweep the Punjab Assembly polls while the Congress and BJP were involved in a neck-and-neck race in Uttarakhand.
Early projections in 84 seats gave Akali Dal-BJP combine 57 seats in a House of 117 while the ruling Congress was ahead in 25 constituencies.
