Akali-BJP ahead in Punjab; edge for BJP in Uttarakhand

The Akali Dal-BJP combine appears set to sweep the Punjab Assembly polls while the Congress and BJP were involved in a neck-and-neck race in Uttarakhand.
Early projections in 84 seats gave Akali Dal-BJP combine 57 seats in a House of 117 while the ruling Congress was ahead in 25 constituencies.
Giving his reaction on the trends, Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal said his father Parkash Singh Badal would be the next chief minister.
In the hill state of Uttarakhand, BJP was leading in 13 seats in the 70-member Assembly while ruling Congress was ahead in 11.
Independents and others accounted for seven seats.
In Manipur, the ruling Congress was ahead in four seats trends for which were available. Others led in three seats.
